Damon Calderwood is currently writing his second book, Moments of Discovery: Photographing North American Birds, which will include several never-before published photographs of birds exhibiting extremely unusual behaviours: a pair of Mountain Bluebirds nesting in an abandoned American Robin's nest, Loggerhead Shrikes feeding their young lizards and egesting pellets, a Virginia Rail picking up a chick in its beak, and Song Sparrows feeding their young Chum Salmon fry.

The book also includes photographs of the threatened Snowy Plover with its young, and several other fascinating and colorful species of birds from Oregon and British Columbia. Damon Calderwood weaves anecdotal and highly personal encounters with the bird families with his exquisite photographs of their most intimate moments. This book is Damon's second book, a follow-up to his highly-acclaimed Flights of Fantasy: Photographing North American Birds.
